Award winning Kevin Higgins has three careers: 1) Solo artist ~ 2) Founding member of popular Texas band (Cosmic Dust Devils) ~ 3) National Touring artist w/duo (Ghosts of the American Road).

"Kevin Higgins ascends to the pantheon of eloquent and evocative American singer-songwriters...in the same league as lauded and gifted Texas singer-songwriters like Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt and Steve Earle.” (Rob Patterson, veteran music journalist).

Raised in El Paso, Higgins bought his first guitar with money earned from running carnival rides and grooming horses. He lived on the streets, worked in luxury hotels, chauffeured dignitaries, battled his indulgences, managed nightclubs, and hammered nails in the hot Texas sun before finally taking the great leap of pursuing his own music. "If William Faulkner played guitar and wrote songs, they might sound like this." (Stephen Doster, producer, referring to Higgins' 2009 solo CD, FIND YOUR SHINE).

You can find Kevin Higgins at Hondo's on Main (Fredericksburg, TX), most Wednesday nights when he's not on the road , (logging 360,000+ miles playing music). For the past 5 years at Hondo's, Kevin has hosted the Texas Songwriter's Showcase, where he has invited some of Texas' best songwriters to share the stage with him, including such luminaries as Gurf Morlix, Butch Hancock, Shake Russell, Stephen Doster, Bill Carter, Will Sexton, Susan Gibson, Walt Wilkins, Rod Picott...and many more.

As of October 2014, Kevin completed three extensive national tours as a duo, "Ghosts of the American Road", (with wife/musical partner, Barbara Malteze), which took him from coast-to-coast and up to Canada. Along the way, he was selected as one of ten finalists for the TELLURIDE TROUBADOR Songwriting Contest, (held in July 2014).

Look for the November 2014 release of Kevin's self-titled duo project, "Ghosts of the American Road", produced by Mark Addison in South Austin. For more info: http://www.GhostsoftheAmericanRoad.com
